Challenge
Netflix needed to make the only APAC stop for Stranger Things 4 feel like a major cultural moment. With stars Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, and Priah Ferguson arriving in Sydney for the first-ever Stranger Things talent tour in Australia, and the first APAC talent tour since COVID, INVNT was challenged to create a high-tech, immersive fan experience that would drive excitement, conversation, and social momentum around the Season 4 Vol. 1 release.
Strategy
INVNT designed and produced an intimate closed-door fan event at Luna Park Sydney for specially selected superfans, contest winners, press, and influencers. Guests entered through a mini rift projection before moving through four immersive zones, including Mike’s Basement with an “Upside Down” TikTok AR filter, the eerie Creel House, the Creel Clock experience into the “Upside Down Under,” and a full-scale Surfer Boy Pizza van. The experience also included a Grill’d photo booth where fans created personalized Stranger Things 4 posters, Netflix-produced swag giveaways, and a live Q&A with the cast that was streamed on Netflix TikTok’s global English and Indonesia channels.
Impact
The event became one of the hottest tickets in Sydney. Ticket allocations across marketing, E&P events, and PR were fully filled, with E&P tickets claimed within 30 minutes. Luna Park Sydney received more than 1,000 fan entries through its recruitment channel, and general admission ticket sales for June 4 tripled. On event day, the room reached nearly 100% capacity with about 330 fans in attendance and more than 290 fans on the waitlist. The organic TikTok livestream generated 162K total views, 4M likes, 14K comments, 103K unique views, and 7K shares, without paid promotion.
